Poor Quality Chimney Caps an Issue
When there is no chimney cap, raccoons and other nuisance animals often get into chimneys. We highly recommend chimney caps!
But, to go a step farther, we recommend stainless steel chimney caps in order to keep these animals out over the long haul.
Our recommendation to install stainless steel chimney caps is based on the number of times we’ve seen raccoons circumvent low quality chimney caps.
This cap to the right is made of aluminum and steel wire. As you’ll see in the video below, the wire rusted away and was loose to start. Raccoons have no problem using this chimney.
Take a look.
Choose a High Quality Cap
We’ve been to many jobs where chimney caps were in place but still ended up with animals.
In most of these instances, rust and/or weak construction led to the problem.
Having a quality, stainless steel chimney cap is the best choice when it comes to raccoons.
Here’s a recent video which shows the same concept.
Wildlife Conscious Design & Construction
When we make repairs, we do so with the prevention of nuisance animals in mind.
As you saw in both videos, there are a lot of chimney caps that don’t hold up to nuisance animals like raccoons over time.
That’s why we recommend putting stainless steel caps in place- they are best for prevention over the long haul.
This justifies the up-front price differential over inferior quality caps.
