Electric Line Squirrel Problem
Here is a case of bad luck squirrels for a homeowner.
When the electric service line was installed on this home, it was attached to the fascia. This is standard practice.
Over time, it was revealed that the nails and the structure holding the fascia to the house weren’t strong enough to last. The line is pulling the fascia off the house.
As the fascia board pulled away from the home, squirrels found the gap and exploited it.
Now, the squirrels need removed and the anchoring system for electric service line needs attention too. Talk about bad luck.
Squirrels Happen
See what happened in more detail by watching this video.
Had there been blocking in the corner tying things together or maybe even just long screws, this might not have happened.
What it goes to show is that a lot of our construction practices and designs don’t really consider nuisance animals (or bad ice storms or limbs falling on power lines or anything else which may have contributed to this problem).
The electricians or builders who installed this service line undoubtedly had every intent to do it the “right” way. They’ve probably done it just like that many times with no problems.
No matter, trouble found this house and squirrels found the trouble.
