You sure don’t have to fight with groundhogs to get them to eat their fruits and vegetables!
They can be tempted by a lot of items.
But, when we need to use bait to lure to trap a groundhog, we like cantaloupe and strawberries.
These ripe, bright, good smelling fruits to help us get the job done.
We have had good success with them.
It is important to still try to get the traps in highly traveled areas. And, it might take a little longer to attract the attention of the groundhogs.
But, if they see and smell a well baited trap and don’t have any previous history with a live trap, they’ll probably be caught.

Successful groundhog trapping is usually all about putting the right trap in the right spot.
But, if you can’t get to the premium spot- a groundhog den entrance-then you may need to lure them with bait.
