Nuisance Wildlife Species at Same Spot

Welcome back to the Frontline Animal Removal blog!

Today, we’re delving into a common scenario that our team encounters frequently in the Akron, Canton, and Kent, Ohio areas: multiple species of nuisance wildlife utilizing the same entry points into homes.

It’s a challenging aspect of our work; figuring out the intruding animal problems and providing comprehensive solutions.  When two types of animals are using the same area, it becomes all the more reason to get the issue solved.

We offer three videos which show a connection.  Don’t miss them further down the page.

The Common Culprits: Birds, Squirrels, and Raccoons

In the realm of nuisance wildlife, birds, squirrels, and raccoons are often at the top of the list when it comes to infiltrating homes.

What’s interesting is that these creatures sometimes converge on the same vulnerable spots in a structure, such as loose soffits or other compromised building materials. These areas provide convenient access points for animals seeking shelter, warmth, or a place to nest.

Weak Soffit: A Magnet for Wildlife

Imagine this scenario: a homeowner notices bird activity around their soffit, accompanied by the sound of scurrying feet. Upon closer inspection, it is discovered that both birds and squirrels have been exploiting a gap in the soffit to gain entry into their attic.

In our first video, we demonstrate how fixing this weak soffit not only resolves the bird issue but also prevents squirrels from accessing the attic. By addressing the root cause of the problem—the compromised soffit—we eliminate the opportunity for multiple species to cause further damage or nuisance.

In a similar case, Ryan wasn’t sure whether squirrels or birds or both are to blame.  He still solved the problem.

Raccoons and Pigeons: Unlikely Roommates

In another scenario captured in our third video, we encounter a situation where raccoons and pigeons have taken up residence in the same area of a soffit.

The accumulation of pigeon droppings within the soffit posed health risks and is just plain nasty, while the raccoons added their own set of challenges.

By removing the raccoons and pigeon droppings , we not only mitigate the immediate issues but also prevent future infestations by any wildlife species.  This is the kind of solution we are striving to deliver.

Here is what the situation looked like:

What these scenarios highlight is the importance of taking a comprehensive approach to nuisance wildlife management.

Simply removing the animals without addressing the underlying entry points is akin to putting a band-aid on a wound—it may provide temporary relief, but the problem will likely resurface.
