Squirrels Able to Chew Through Most Siding
When squirrels want to get into a good nesting spot in your home, it can be pretty hard to stop them.
As rodents, their front teeth are always growing and they can sure put them to use on tunneling into homes here in the Akron, Canton, Kent, OH area.
Wood, vinyl, aluminum…none of these present a problem for a persistent squirrel.
Some of the holes they make are small and neat: just big enough to go in and out of.
Other holes are overkill: chewing, it seems, just for the sheer pleasure.
Today, we share one of the extreme cases.
At a recent service call we found evidence of aggressive chewing right through the siding and into the attic and wall spaces. A female squirrel (who subsequently gave birth to a litter) chewed an unusual amount of vinyl siding around an entry point.
We’re not exactly sure why squirrels sometime chew to the extreme. Watch this video and make you’re own conclusions.
Dealing with Chewing Squirrels
Before Repair
As Ryan mentioned, the plan for this job was to 1) remove the squirrels living in the home and 2) make a great repair.

After Repair
