Clogged Gutters Lead to Animal Problems
My favorite time of the year is when the leaves are turning and signs of winter are just around the corner. But, after the color blast the leaves have to go somehwere. Many of them end up in gutters and downspouts.
Is there a link between clogged gutters and animal problems? You bet.
Clogged gutters and downspouts cause water to flow where it was not intended to go. Water repeatedly flowing across fascia boards and roof decking causes rot. Rotten and weakened fascia and decking creates a potential entry point for raccoons, squirrels, birds and other animals.
Many times when called for noises in the attic, we find that clogged gutters are one part of the problem.
The picture below shows a clogged gutter, a hole in the roof caused from water damage, and a trap for a raccoon. The raccoon incursion into the attic may have been prevented if routine gutter maintenance was performed.
Gutter clean-out can prevent these problems and is one of the services offered by Frontline Animal Removal.
