Do Animal Repellents Work?
We are not Consumer Reports.
But, for what its worth, we don’t believe a lot of the commercially available or home-remedy nuisance wild animal repellents work too well.
Of course, as a nuisance wild animal control company that removes and prevents animals, we are biased.
But, we know that a combination of removing (trapping) and excluding (repairs) is HIGHLY effective at keeping nuisance wild animals under control. And, the results are tangible.
Remember, for us, we are talking about bats,groundhogs, raccoons, squirrels, opossums, moles and skunks primarily.
Reviews of Nuisance Animal Repellents

Since Amazon offers a large sample size of actual consumers of the products, we used its reviews. We challenge you to go to Amazon and search for ‘animal repellent’, too.
A lot of the different products used for a variety of animals will show up. (There sure are a lot of animal repellents out there!) Once all those products were in one place, we started looking at the reviews and weren’t surprised by what we found.
Here is a composite picture showing reviews of the three most reviewed (sample size matters!) general animal repellents at the time of this post writing.
As you can see, for these widely reviewed products, the results are not all that encouraging!
It seems like you’re either going to love the product or hate the product. It’s like rolling the dice.
Our goal is not to give these products a bad name (no names attached to the reviews!) : it is only to give a buyer-beware warning.
