Attic Fans | Vents | Squirrel Removal
Attic fans and vents are common areas where squirrels and other animals make entry into Akron / Canton / Kent area attics.
So how do you catch squirrels that are accessing an attic via the attic fan / vent?
In this short video, Ryan shows his effective set-up.

Some highlights of the video:
- Ryan has used wire to block off the vent. The only opening (way out of the attic) for the squirrels is the point where the trap is mounted.
- The trap right up against the vent cover has a one way door. Squirrels can get out of the attic but they can’t get back in.
- Other traps are mounted to the roof around the one way trap. These traps catch squirrels that weren’t in the attic when the set-up was made. But, any squirrels caught in these traps are in very close proximity to the entrance so they probably are very familiar with this attic entry.
- This set-up will be run until no more squirrels are coming out and no outside squirrels are being caught.
- Ryan will manufacture a custom wire cover for the attic fan vent. After installation, this point of entry will no longer allow squirrels in.
- Working on a pitched roof is tricky. Notice the roof ladder and screws. Ryan takes precautions to keep himself and all the traps and material on the roof. All screw holes will need sealed with high quality sealant.
