Possums Show up in the Strangest Places

Like garages, drawers, basements, groundhog traps, and trash cans.

If your trash is raided on a regular basis or you hear noises in your attic or crawl space it could be an opossum.

Opossums are North America’s only marsupial (Animals with pouches for their young). These animals look like large rodents with a hairless tail and pointed snout. Their fur is typically of a gray or white coloration. Females carry their young in a pouch on their abdomen, and when the young have outgrown the pouch they usually hitchhike on the mother’s back.  Another unique feature of opossums is their prehensile tail, which allows them to grasp objects.

Opossums will eat almost anything. They are scavengers and will feed on vegetables, fruits and carrion. These critters love to eat trash and pet food left outside or in garages. If opossums have the opportunity they will crawl inside of attics, under sheds, under foundations, and get inside of walls.
