Finding Squirrel Holes
One of the best ways to remove squirrels from a structure is to trap them right at their entry/exit points.
The squirrels try to exit the house and go right into the trap. Or, they try to get in and find the way blocked but find open traps.
Either way, trapping them at these defined narrow points makes squirrel removal efficient.
As you can imagine, knowing where the squirrels enter and exit the structure is key.
Not knowing how the squirrels are getting in or being unable to locate those points makes the job a lot tougher.
Today’s blog post concerns finding squirrel entry points. Sometimes it is easy. Other times it is hard.
Bottom line: The spots were found and removal proceeded as it should.
Effective squirrel removal starts with inspection and an understanding of places squirrels like.
Squirrel Entrance Difficult to Find
In the first example, Ryan was called to a home where squirrels had been suspected but not located by previous operators.
Others had missed it, but Ryan was able to find it quickly because he listened to the homeowner and what the homeowner reported a roofer had said.
The homeowner knew squirrels were still a problem. And, a roofer had looked at different parts of the roof and felt there was a suspect spot.
Hearing and seeing squirrels over the course of some time often gives a homeowner a very good sense of where the squirrel is getting in. Listening to the people who are at the home every day seems like a no-brainer. But in this case, people were unable to find the squirrel hole.
Take a look:
By simply listening to what those familiar with the structure had to say, the hole was found in short order.
Easy Entrance to Find
Conversely, there are some squirrel entrances which are very easy to find.
We believe the easiest of all are entrances where the squirrels move a lot of insulation out of the hole as they are making their way into the attic or walls.
All one has to do is find a spot where insulation shouldn’t be (like on the ground next to your house) and look up.
A random pile of blown-in insulation outside your house is like a giant x-marks-the-spot on a treasure map. Animal’s are getting in.
Ryan shows a couple of insulation piles in this video.
Insulation makes it easy!
Squirrel Trapping | Akron, Canton, Kent Area
Finding how the squirrels are getting in is a first step toward getting rid of them.
It usually isn’t too difficult to find out where they are getting in.
But, there are times when odd entrances exist or it turns out there are other entrances.
At times like this squirrel removal just takes a little more time as new information is gathered.
If you keep searching, the entry points will eventually be revealed.
