Raccoons Trapped From Chimneys

Now is the time!

As we transition from March into April, the birthing season for many nuisance species is well underway.

Some raccoons have already had babies while some are still pregnant and looking for good dens.

What this means for us here in the Canton, Akron, Kent Ohio area is that raccoons are using the chimneys and fireplaces in our neighborhoods for maternal dens.

If you should happen to hear raccoon noises from your chimney or fireplace, don’t worry!  Frontline Animal Removal can get the raccoons out.

When the chimney removal plan works out, the whole problem of raccoons living in the chimney is solved in a short time.

Uncapped Chimneys Attract Raccoons

In our urban/suburban environments, raccoons often use chimneys as shelters as they are cozy and safe.  Chimneys resemble tree hollows in many ways.

A pregnant female raccoon looking for a good den sees an uncapped chimney as a safe spot far from predators.

Homeowners are often alerted to the problem when they hear raccoons walking on the roof or scurrying around in the chimneys.

If the baby raccoons are already born and old enough, homeowners can hear them as they get pretty noisy.

Whether its just a mother-to-be raccoon looking for a spot or a whole family, Frontline Animal Removal can get the raccoons out.

The most common way we do that is through trapping the mother raccoon in a specialized chimney trap and then removing the babies (if present) by hand.

Chimney Trap Videos

In order to visualize a raccoon chimney removal, we’ve included a couple of very recent videos below.

In this first one, the pregnant female was capured before she gave birth.

Removing her and installing a chimney cap provides a long term solution.

The second video presented today shows a scenario where a standard chimney trap did not fit the chimney.  Therefore, a customized set-up was needed in order to install a trap.

This mother raccoon passed by a baited trap night after night.  This shows why using a chimney trap is much more efficient.

No matter the scenario, your raccoon-in-the-chimney-problem can be solved.
