Raccoon Repairs

A solution to a nuisance animal problem is a two-step process:

  • Remove the nuisance animal from your home
  • Repair the damaged area so others can’t get back in
When animals get in, Frontline Animal Removal gets the animals out and keeps others from getting in by making great repairs.

If you are experiencing a nuisance animal problem and there is damage to your structure, we highly recommend screening your nuisance animal removal provider to see if they make repairs as well.

Hiring a company that only removes animals means the damage left or the issue that let the animal in still exists.  By hiring a company that makes great repairs, you
can really solve the problem and do it without having to screen and hire another contractor.

Full service nuisance animal removal professionals like Frontline Animal Removal are often able and willing to handle both parts of the job.

In fact, offering quality repair services is one of the ways we try to stand out from the crowd.  We think it makes a lot of sense to perform both aspects of the job and believe it is a real value to our clients.

Animal Damage Repair Completes Solution

At Frontline Animal Removal we pride ourselves in providing quality animal removal AND repair/prevention services.

We don’t just remove animals.  We don’t just do home repairs.  We provide solutions by addressing the problem comprehensively.

As an example, Ryan recently went to a home where the homeowner noticed shingle damage and suspected it came from a nuisance animals.

Ryan went up on the roof to inspect and found the homeowner was correct:  A raccoon had ripped up some shingles as it was exploring possible areas to get into the house.  The good news in this scenario is that the raccoon DID NOT get inside at the edge of this vent.  The damage was done, but it looked like the raccoon had moved on for now.

The result is that part of the roof decking is exposed to water and there is even a little hole.  In the short-term, the main side effect of this damage is that a little water will come into the attic here.  Its not the end of the world, but it is not ideal.

If this area isn’t repaired, more damage is sure to follow.  The raccoon or another animal could come back to this damaged area, be attracted to the weakness, do more damage and get inside.  Assuming no animals come back to this spot, the roof decking is still going to get weaker from exposure to water and eventually rot out.  When that happens animals are sure to follow.

Having found these damaged shingles, Ryan reported the absence of raccoons in the attic along with the damage.  Of value to the homeowner, Ryan was able to offer an immediate repair because the homeowner had a couple of matching shingles in storage.  The damage would not continue and the homeowner did not need to find someone else to get up on the roof and get the job done.

Its really an example of why you want your nuisance animal removal company to be skilled in repair work as well.

Here’s a video which shows the problem and solution.

An Older Example: Siding & Fascia

As far as repair work goes, the shingle repair example above is a good one but doesn’t necessarily show the range Ryan’s repair skills per se.

Here are some pictures which show another repair job that included patching, siding and trim.

At this job, raccoons found a hole at the gable end of wall and were slipping into the attic behind some siding: very sneaky! The first step was to remove the trouble making raccoons which was accomplished in short order.

Attic Raccoons Trapped

These two raccoons were captured in live traps at a spot where they were going over the roof edge and into the attic.

On the side of the house, here is what the hole looked like with the siding removed.

Catching the raccoons is one thing.  But, making a good repair is equally important.

With the raccoons removed, the area of damage reinforced, and the siding all put back this spot is as good as new.
