Difficult & Dangerous | Effective Squirrel Trapping

Why hire a professional to trap your squirrels and make repairs?  Because squirrels often make their holes in very difficult and dangerous places to get to.

In fact, squirrel jobs are some of the most frustrating because they tend to go very high on houses and use “hidden” entrances.  Climbing around on roofs finding entrances, trapping squirrels and repairing holes requires the professional nuisance animal remover get up on roofs.  It is dangerous and time consuming to do it the right way.  It also takes a person with the experience and know-how to get the job done.

Please watch the following video that shows a squirrel removal and repair from a roof.  It’ll give you some perspective on what goes in to squirrel removal and repair.

Squirrel Removal & Repair

As the video showed, that one lone squirrel found a weakness on the peak of that dormer and moved right in.  The reason the trap was put right at the hole rather than some lower, more accessible spot is all about effectiveness.  Trapping at the hole removes the squirrel that is the perpetrator, not some random squirrel just happening to be checking things out.

Catching a bunch of random squirrels means more money spent and the real problem squirrel still not being caught.  Trapping right at a nuisance animal’s entrance is the best way to remove the target animal only.

Removing the target animal (the one causing the problem) is the best way to assure that the repair made to the area is secure and not damaged.

Had someone just gone up on this roof peak and covered over that hole with some shingles, the squirrel would have just chewed back inside.  Taking the squirrel that made the hole out of the mix makes the repair secure.

Circumstances Make Squirrel Trapping Difficult

Sure, on a good day you might be able to put some peanuts in a cage trap and catch a squirrel or two.

Effective squirrel removal and control takes care of the problem squirrels.  This means trapping at the problem point, not just in the general vicinity.  And, if their entry hole is at the highest point of the home, putting traps there is what it really takes to do the job right.

For the do-it-yourselfer, this means you must possess the correct traps and have the ladders and skills to work on high points of your home.  And in some poor weather conditions…well, you hopefully get the idea…effective squirrel trapping requires a unique set of skills and tools.

As shown in both videos, the squirrels in Ryan’s traps were captured right by the den entry.  These squirrels are the problem squirrels.  Randomly removing a bunch of squirrels may or may not solve the problem.  Some people you talk to may suggest this “shotgun” approach.  We believe the more surgical removal is best for customers and neighborhood squirrels.

If you are gathering information and don’t live in our area, make sure the animal control company you hire is going to trap the squirrels at their den entry.  If they tell you it’s not necessary, we advise you to pass on them.
