groundhog traps set up at barn doorA Tale of Two Pests: The Surprising Groundhog and Raccoon Removal Job

Animal removal jobs can be filled with surprises, as Ryan well knows. At a recent job, his intent was to address the nuisance groundhog problem that had plagued a storage barn, causing a general dirt/rock mess. Signs of the groundhog’s presence were unmistakable.

But it was an unexpected twist that made this job worthy of a post and video. This is the story of how a seemingly routine groundhog removal job turned into a two-animal situation, with raccoons making an unexpected appearance.

Signs of Groundhogs: Moved Dirt from Under Barn

The trouble began when groundhogs decided to take up residence beneath the storage barn. Their relentless digging had led to significant soil displacement, posing a risk to the barn’s structural integrity. It was clear that action was needed to address this growing nuisance, and Ryan was the person for the job.

Groundhog activity is pretty easy to identify.  Their characteristic burrows and moving of soil from under the barn made it clear that these creatures were the culprits behind the damage. With experience and expertise, Ryan was ready to evict the groundhogs and allow the doors to swing freely again.

A Raccoon Surprise

As Ryan inspected the barn’s perimeter, he stumbled upon a peculiar hole that stood out from the rest. It looked different, and his instincts told him that something unusual might be lurking within. With a sense of caution, he decided to investigate the mysterious hole on the side of the barn.

As he entered the barn, he was met with the scurrying of raccoons up into the rafters. Raccoons had made the barn their  home, Ryan had exposed them by doing a little more investigating.

With raccoons now part of the equation, Ryan adapted the trapping set-up.  He set traps for both raccoons and groundhogs to ensure a thorough and humane removal process of both problem species.
